History

     It is the first good clinical practice (GCP) center established in our country. It was founded in 1999 by Professor Aydın Erenmemişoğlu under the Faculty of Medicine/Erciyes University. Since December 2013, the center has been active as a research and application center affiliated to Erciyes University Rectorate.

     Hakan Çetinsaya IKUM is one of Europe’s largest experimental drug research clinics. The pharmacokinetic (bioavailability / bioequivalence) studies are performed predominantly.

     Hakan Çetinsaya IKUM is inspected once every 2 years by national institutes and 7 times by international institutes (Germany (2 times), South Africa, Austria and Spain, Ministries of Health in Denmark and EMA (European Medicines Agency)). Every employee is the most experienced employee in his/her field in Türkiye. A great number of pharmaceutical companies from South Korea to Argentina prefer Hakan Çetinsaya IKUM. The center is one of the biggest and high quality practice centers in Europe. It is generating real know-how import by providing data and service for the clients.

     Approximately 1199 bioequivalence studies have been completed in the clinic since the center was founded. This figure constitutes approximately 90% of all studies in our country.

     The number of studies carried out by years: 6 in 2000, 10 in 2001, 54 in 2002, 67 in 2003, 107 in 2004, 151 in 2005, 118 in 2006, 123 in 2007, 120 in 2008, 88 in 2009, 80 in 2010, 56 in 2011, 51 in 2012, 53 in 2013.

     The number of bioequivalence studies conducted by drug groups between 2000 and 2013: Antibiotics group 200 (18.45%), antihypertensive group 190 (17.52%), drugs affecting the central nervous system 150 (13.83%), analgesic/anti-inflammatory drugs 172 (15.86%), drugs in the treatment of peptic ulcer 90 (8.30%), anti-diabetic drugs 96 (8.76%), anti-hyper-lipidemic drugs 70 (6,45%) and others (antifungal, anti-asthmatic, antihistaminic, etc.) 117 (10,79%).

     IKUM is still one of the most experienced clinics in Türkiye and also in Europe. The center has 2 floors, 30 rooms, a capacity of 48 beds, areas of daily use and a total area of 1300 m2. 29 staff members including 2 pharmacologist (MD),1 family physician (MD), 1 pharmacist, 8 nurses and 1 paramedic, 1 ECG technician, 1 IT technician, 5 laboratory technicians, 2 secretaries, 1 civil servant, 1 contact person, 2 quality control experts, 3 cleaning staff members are working at the center.

     Staff members at the center undergo training in the country and abroad every 2 years. The European Union countries prefer our center especially after international (EU countries) inspection.
